Taste of Inle Lake
Explore the region’s morning market, which rotates its location around the lake’s villages in a 5-day rhythm and is visited by all kinds of people from surrounding villages and hill tribes.
Continue across the lake, passing through villages with stilted houses and floating gardens to visit Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, the lake’s main sanctuary , the village of Inpawkhone to observe the traditional silk weaving techniques of Inthar people.
Cruise along foliage cloaked canals to the lakeside village of In Dein in the afternoon. Here you will explore the ancient stupas of Nyaung Ohak and Shwe Inn Thein Paya. The structures date from the 17th and 18th centuries and while some have been restored.

Then, board your private boat for an afternoon excursion on the Inle Lake to the village of The Lay Oo, sitting on the eastern shore of Inle Lake. The mojor crops farmed are rice, sugar cane, potato, tomato, garlic and a variety of beans as well as cucumber and flowers. Take a stroll through the village and the surrounding organic farmland. It affords and excellent window onto village life. Witness the unique fishing techniques used by local Inthar fishermen along the way cruising back to the shore.

In the afternoon, leisurely bike ride from Nyaung Shwe to vineyard “Red Mountain Winery Estate”. Begin on two wheels as you ride through the small town’s sleepy streets. Stop for photos and village visits along the way. End your ride at Red Mountain for a tasting of splendid red and white wines. Observe wine making facilities before settling down at their hilltop restaurant for a tasting before cycling back to Nyaung Shwe and transfer back to your hotel on the shore of Inle Lake.
